My Halloween Reading

This is the reading I did for myself this year on Halloween night. I used my Lifting the Veil - An Otherworldly Halloween Spread.

I was in awe as, card after card, I turned over images with the same beige color scheme. It wasn't until I reached the 7th card that color entered the reading. Then it was two green cards in a row. The final card I knew would have blue in the borders, but the inside colors fit pretty well with the first cards.

The last time I did this reading, I remember delighting in how the cards really connected with each other, and the same thing happened this time. In fact, there was so much synchronicity within the cards, and aligning with my recent experiences that it was overwhelming and I found myself lost in the tangles a bit.

1. Message from the Dead (Human spirit)
Past Life Oracle Cards - Food and Hunger
When I first created this spread back in 2009, I knew it was my grandfather who came across in this position. This year, I didn't recognize the person leaving me this message. Since I decided to use the Past Life Oracle, I wonder if it is actually myself, from a past life, talking to me.

This card indicates that in the past, I lacked for sustenance. The message here is to release any fears I have of deprivation. To open up to abundance.

2. Message from your Spirit Guide
Art of Life Tarot - The Sun
The quote on this card is from Friedrich Nietzsche: "Precisely the least, the softest, lightest, a lizard's rustling, a breath, a flash, a moment - a little makes the way of the best happiness." I am to delight in the small things.

3. Message from your Guardian Angel
Angel Oracle - Courage
When I was shuffling these cards, I was thinking about how it is said that we always have at least two guardian angels. But here I was asking for a message from only one of them? When I turned the card over, I smiled at the magic. The card shows two guardian angels. Amazing.

Yes! I have two! And they are covering me from all angles. There is one to the left and one to the right. One is leaning forward a bit, and one back, so my front and back are covered as well. Also, one's head is tilting slightly up, while one is tilting down, so above and below covered.

I looked at the slumped human figure in the middle, and intuitively knew that the angels were not saying that there is no need to cry... they are saying it's okay to cry. It is safe to feel whatever I feel, which is very comforting. (I was later to find this same sentiment in another card in the spread, from the Faeries' Oracle.)

I feel like the girl in the card can't see the angels, and doesn't even know they're there. I can relate to this, as I have mixed feelings about angels. I don't believe or disbelieve in them. I can't see them or feel them. This card is saying that they are there either way, whether I believe they are or not.

Update 1: Four days after this reading, I was offered an angel oracle deck to review. Perhaps the angels are trying to reach out. A couple days later, I was offered two more angel decks to review!

Update 2: A couple days after that, I connected with two of my angels, for the first time. It was pretty incredible, real or not.

4. Message from an Ascended Master
Kuan Yin Oracle - The Yin Empress
I no longer have my Ascended Masters Oracle* deck, which would have been my first choice for this card in the spread. So I selected my own Ascended Master and asked her to speak for ALL of the masters in her guidance.

The Yin Empress speaks of peace, prosperity and success, but most of all divine feminine empowerment. This is a great bit of synchronicity, as I am currently reading Rise Sister Rise, which is all about rising into your divine feminine power.  I can see that this will be a strong theme for me right now.

*I rectified this situation and ordered the Ascended Masters Oracle Cards so I could have it again.

5. Message from the Nature Spirits
Earth Power Oracle - Uluru
The affirmations on this card are: "I have power and it is real. I create my destiny. I carry the greatness of my ancestors in my body and soul." This card is about creation, blood, magic, and fertility. Again I see the theme of divine feminine power here.

Update: A few days after this reading, I was on Instagram and looking through some random person's posts, when I clicked on a photo and saw that it was tagged #Uluru. The photo wasn't scenic, so I had no idea it was in the vicinity of Uluru until I saw the tag. I had never even heard of Uluru until I drew this card, and now it shows up twice in as many days? Amazing synchronicity and confirmation.

Second Update: A few days after that, I was watching Lost with my kids, and it was the episode where Rose and Bernard went to Uluru for healing. Uluru!

6. Message from the Faeries
The Faeries' Oracle - The Lady of Harvest
The first thing I saw when I looked at this card was a lady sitting still while everyone around her brought stuff to her. I heard, "Sit, and everyone will bring everything you need to you." When I drew the next card in the spread after this one, and skimmed the companion book, I saw the same message. (More on that when I get to the next card.)

This card also  connected with a previous card! There is a passage in the the Faeries' Oracle book that says "Cry if you need to, be joyful if that is appropriate, but in either case trust the process, acknowledge what you feel, and prepare to move on." This was the exact sentiment I received earlier from the angel card in spot 3!

The next thing I felt from this card was that it has a very Autumnal feel to it, which is appropriate. It's a time between good harvest and things starting to die and rot. Leaves are falling, colors changing. It's a time for change.

Although this card speaks of harvest, it is a card of grief, loss and release. There was a lot of synchronicity when I drew this card as well. I haven't used this deck in awhile, so I skimmed through the book to see if something would catch my eye. What kept leaping out at me from the pages were the words "letting go". At the exact time I was seeing those repeating words, my daughter was singing the Frozen song "Let it Go". Three times, she actually sang the words "let it go" at the exact moment when my eyes were on the very words "let it go" or "letting go". If this isn't a sign, I don't know what is!

So I need to contemplate what seriously needs letting go of, and I need to let it go freely.

Update: The message of "letting go" is EVERYWHERE for me. I see it multiple times a day, every single day since I did this reading on Halloween. (And as I write this, it is November 12.) This is the strongest  and most persistent message I am currently in the midst of.

7. Message from the Animals
The Animal-Wise Tarot - Four of Shapeshifters (Cups)
The stick bug or walking stick. This was the first spark of color in my reading. I skimmed through the book on this one too, as it's a fascinating book. This is where I found the synchronous message I received in the previous card. There is a passage in the book about how the walking stick has the ability to remain very still for a long time. The author ties this into meditation (which I had been practicing without fail for a couple weeks leading up to the reading, and continue still). He suggests that if you remain still, the right path or course of action will reveal itself. Meditation brings results. Something is being offered, and only from a place of stillness will we recognize it. Exactly the first message I intuited from the Faeries' card!

I need to prepare for what I want quietly. To continue my meditation practice. To keep my intuitive antennae alert. To allow things to come to me.

8. Message from the Magical Creatures
Mythical Creatures Oracle - Western Dragon
The second card of color, also green. Here we have a card of action. The opposite of the message from the previous two cards. When the path is revealed to me through stillness, it looks like I will have a battle to confront. Great. I really freaking hate confrontation, let alone combat! This card promises conflict and struggle, an antagonist to face. Something must be defeated. I am the knight in the corner, and it feels rather like David and Goliath. But I must remember who won that fight. I will survive the challenge. I must be my own heroine. Again, embracing my divine feminine power will help me out here.

9. Message from the Dream World
Dream Inspirational Cards - Reading
The first thing I thought of when I turned this card over was the play on words. I was literally doing a "Reading". This card speaks of knowledge and learning. The guy is reading strange and wondrous and otherworldly things. I am so passionate about so many new subjects lately (mostly involving strange and wondrous and otherworldly things, as it happens). I feel like I don't have time to do it all.

This guy has spikes on his knees, a huge BACK OFF to anyone who tries to approach him and interrupt his reading. I can relate to this. I need to carve out time to read and study, and make it a priority. There appears to be a head on a spike next to this guy. He is not fooling around. This is what I feel like doing sometimes to people who interrupt my reading.

There is also an inside joke with my son that I see in this card (involving the Rubik's Cube being all one color), a private nod for me to lighten up and laugh more with my kids.

---

There was a great deal of synchronicity in this reading, both with my current interests (what I'm studying, meditation, divine feminine power), and also how the cards confirmed each other's messages and my intuitive feelings so blatantly.

Though this spread takes a lot of time and energy with all the different decks, I feel it is well worth the time to invest on Halloween night.

A Psychic Reading with the Sepiafoto Lenormand

This was a reading I did awhile back that I wanted to share. I was due to meet with a friend at the library that day. I hadn't heard back from him to confirm, so I wanted to know if he would show. As I was shuffling, I got a flash in my mind of him giving me money, which was bizarre because he had no reason to give me money, and doesn't generally have money to spare. Still shuffling, it came to mind that him giving me money would show up in the cards as Dog + Fish.

I laid out my reading of three cards, to see about our meeting. Anchor + Tower told me that the meeting at the library was solid, he would show, and we would be there talking for awhile. The Dog obviously represented my friend, but since I had that psychic flash, I just had to see what came after the Dog. Sure enough, it was the Fish! In the same order that I thought it would appear. Dog + Fish! I had to draw another card, because I don't like even-numbered Lenormand layouts. The Heart was a loving gesture from my friend.

Sure enough, he showed up at the library for our meeting. And a few minutes into our chat, he said he had a picture to show me that he knew I would really like. I thought it was going to be of his new granddaughter. Instead, he pulled out a $100 bill and I was looking at a beautiful picture of Benjamin Franklin. Turns out he got an unexpected refund for something and wanted to share his good fortune with me (Heart). I immediately thought of my psychic flash, and how they were reflected in my cards. I loved that the cards confirmed my psychic knowing, and that it all played out within a few hours. Real life magic!

Deck: Sepiafoto Lenormand

Giving and Receiving Blockage Spread

I made up this spread last night. It is designed to show you where you have blockages in your giving and receiving energies. A balanced flow in this area is important when trying to manifest or attract things that you want.

This spread gives you insight into where your energies are blocked and what you can do about it.

Giving and Receiving Blockage Spread

Giving...............Receiving
5--1/3--9.......6--2/4--10
----7----...........----8----

1. Your current comfort level with giving.
2. Your current comfort level with receiving.
3. (Crosses Card 1) What blocks/inhibits you from giving freely.
4. (Crosses card 2) What blocks/inhibits you from receiving freely.
5. How your past has played into this giving blockage.
6. How your past has played into this receiving blockage.
7. How to overcome this blockage (re: Card 3) to enable you to give more freely.
8. How to overcome this blockage (re: Card 4) to enable you to receive more freely.
9. Where the advice of Card 7 will take you if you follow through with it. (Your Giving Future)
10. Where the advice of Card 8 will take you if you follow through with it. (Your Receiving Future)

I laid the cards out in the order as described above. Then I read the two piles separately. I read the Giving pile first, then moved on to the Receiving pile. It found it to be a very honest account, and it gave me solid advice that I can act on, so that my energies in these areas can flow better.

Keep in mind the wording of the positions of cards 9/10. This is the outcome you will receive IF you follow through with the advice. Most likely, if you continue on the way you have been, making no changes, you will remain where you are now, carrying the blockages (cards 1/3 and 2/4).

Tips: If you have a positive card show up in the 3/4 position (the block), and all the other cards are super sunny, then you might not have a block in this area. However, if you feel that you do have a block, or if the surrounding cards indicate that you do, then you would read this positive card for its negative attributes. (Yes, you can find an up side and a down side to every card.)

If your outcome card is negative, then you may find yourself still blocked in the future, which would indicate a need to be more vigilant about overcoming the issue.

I hope this spread proves helpful for others besides myself!

Question and Answer Tarot Spread

I devised this two-card spread which is a fun combination of two things. First, you allow the deck to choose the question, which is an interesting twist to reading. Second, the manner of drawing the cards is based on a card game that I have recently taught my girls (Hit or Miss).

Question/Answer Spread

1. In two piles, separate the Majors from the Minors in your tarot deck.

2. Shuffle the Majors. Then turn the cards over one at a time. When you turn over the first card, call out "Zero". Turning over the second card, say "One"... and so on, in order. When the number of the card you flip over actually matches the number you call out, then that is your Question card. (If you go through the entire pile without a match, shuffle the cards and try again.)

3. Shuffle the Minors, and repeat the same process. But start with "Ace" and go through to the King (if you get that far). If you say "King" before you find a match, continue flipping over cards, starting over with "Ace". When you get a match, that is the answer to your Question card.

Example, using the Majors, if the 13th card I flip over is #13 (Death), then that is my Question. And it can be phrased in whatever way makes sense for you. (What do I need to release? What is ending in my life? etc.)

And using the Minors, if the 12th card I turn over is the Knight of Cups, then that is the answer. (Maybe there is a need to release any romantic notions, or a relationship is coming to an end.)

It's a fun spread, and great for times when you really want to play with the cards, but you don't have a question in mind.

Variation: A simpler way to do the Question/Answer thing, and spend some time playing with a deck is this: Shuffle the deck, then turn over the top card as the question, and the second card as the answer. Continue to go through the entire deck quickly, asking and answering in single sentences. This gets your intuitive juices flowing, as there's no pressure to over-analyze the meanings. You just say the first thing that pops into your head and move onto the next set. Also, you don't have to deal with the hassle of separating the Majors from the Minors.

Here's the Question/Answer reading I did (using the first method):

Question: The Fool
What do I need to know about this new path I am embarking on? (Very timely question!)

Answer: Two of Chalices
I have met my match. I have found a path that I click with on a soul level. I am following my heart. I can look at this new journey as I would any new relationship. The journey is my new partner, and I need to be loving and devoted and attentive to my new way of living. This choice I have made can't be a one night stand! The man and woman in this card are clinking goblets, "Cheers!" I do believe my new path is just as excited to have me as I am to walk it.

I was drawn to something bizarre in the lower right corner of the card. The only remaining remnants of a stone statue - a foot, cut off just above the ankle. This brought to mind the phrase "one step at a time". With nothing but a single foot, there's really no other option, is there? So this was a reminder to me that I need to be patient. Slow progress is better than no progress. That is something I really need to remember when I inevitably become discouraged and impatient along the way.

My First (INCREDIBLE) Readings with the Wisdom of the Oracle

I received this deck in the mail today. I wanted to share the first three readings I did with them, because they were magically, incredibly, unbelievably on point.

The first question I asked was what I should focus on today. In my head, it was the choice between doing something creative, cleaning the house (which was scheduled for yesterday, but was delayed because I spent the day gardening) or finishing binge watching the current season of The Walking Dead.  The card I drew was CLEAN IT UP. I mean, seriously. I was bowled over. The cards literally took one of my choices and spat it back out at me. It was incredible, even though it was the least desirable of the options facing me today. But I took the advice and cleaned house. How could I not?

The second question was for my son. He is going to make a trade with someone online, and wanted to know if the transaction would go well, if he could trust this guy to hold up his end of the trade. I drew another really relevant answer. LOYAL HEART. This told me that the guy would be trustworthy and the deal would go well.

The third reading was for my daughter. She asked for a way to make more money. Now, I didn't think any card could possible shock me more than the directness of the first card I drew, but this one took the cake. CHOP WOOD. Next weekend, my kids are scheduled to go to a friend's parents' house to cut down a dead tree in the yard and help gather up all the cut pieces of wood. They're getting paid to do so. I mean... come on! I've never had a deck (and I have a couple hundred decks) with a card title referring to chopping wood. And the kids have never before had an offer to chop wood. The two coming together is nothing short of magical. Really. I got goosebumps when I drew this card! Hours later, and I'm still in shock. So I told her it meant that she needs to focus on the job at hand, and only after that will another financial opportunity present itself to her.

All I can say is if you don't yet have this deck, and you're into oracles, run, don't walk to Amazon.

P.S. I'm still finishing binging The Walking Dead tonight. #CauseI'mAddicted

Full Moon Oracle ~ February 2016 Waning Moon

I haven't done a moon oracle in awhile. I already had two witchy events scheduled for this Full Moon (a spell and a Full Moon Oil brewing), so while I was in the moony spirit, I went ahead and did a tarot pull as well last night.

I asked what energy would be waning in the next two weeks. Drawing from the Major Arcana of the Dreaming Way Tarot, I pulled The Emperor.

The Emperor is the male counterpart to The Empress. Together, in the tarot deck, they represent leadership roles in their respective elements:

• Male/Female
• Masculine/Feminine
• Father/Mother
• Yang/Yin
• Thinking/Feeling
• Logical/Creative
• Facts/Intuition
• Structure/Flow
• Left Brain/Right Brain
• Aggressive/Receptive

For the next two weeks, masculine energy will be waning, so feminine-led energies should be welcomed.

Lead from the heart. Trust your feelings. Listen to your intuition.

Over the past week or so, I have embarked on several new projects. My mind has been scattered all over the place, a theme that has also made itself manifest in my surroundings. The Virgo Full Moon is a great time to organize and clear clutter. So that is what I did with my day today. I cleared space so that I can enjoy more clarity in my life and mind. From this clearer space, I can be more free to listen to my internal guidance.

The Emperor energies are waning, fading, lessening over the next two weeks. It's not the time to adhere to rigid structures or rules or left brain perspective.

Release the masculine + honor the feminine this waning moon cycle!

For the next two weeks, it's a beautiful time to:

Listen to the inner stirrings of your heart.
Act on intuitive hits.
Trust your gut.
Honor your feelings.
Go with the flow.
Let your heart lead.
Be creative.
Be open.
Be receptive.

Not wasting a moment on this oracle's advice, I immediately signed up for The Darling Tree's Unicorn Project, which begins March 1st.  The timing was too perfect to pass up!

Ask yourself in what way will you release the masculine and honor the feminine in your world over the next two weeks?

New Moon Oracle - November 2015 Waxing Moon

The New Moon was a couple days ago. I am a bit late in posting this, but the oracle is good for two weeks (until the Full Moon), so it is still relevant.

The waxing moon is a time of growth, manifesting, coming, growing, becoming.

Pulling from the Major Arcana of the Dreaming Way Tarot, I drew...

The Tower.

Again!

I pulled this card for last month's New Moon Oracle, using a different tarot deck.

So we're looking at two straight months of Tower power.

Last month, the Tower energy manifested itself for me in a big way - but in a GOOD big way. Something that had become a habit over the past few years, draining my energy and wallet, ended suddenly, abruptly, all at once. It was a wonderful, unexpected, super-exciting and joyful gift from the Universe.

Two days ago when I drew this card, on the day of the new moon, I experienced another Tower manifestation. A life-changing event, again for the good. This was a miraculous thing - completely out of the blue, completely annihilating an old, outdated, painful way of doing things, to be replaced by a new, easier, more effortless, painless and better way of doing something that was previously really sucky. It was totally unexpected, wholly miraculous. The old was wiped out by the New and Improved.

The Tower can be a huge breakthrough... destruction for good. Think Kali.

Goddess Kali 2 by MiaLaia on DeviantArt

If you want to be proactive, and not wait for the Tower to hit you, you can ask Kali to destroy anything in your life that you want gone. I did this just the other day, and visualized her violently hacking away at the energetic cords binding me to someone I no longer wanted an emotional connection to. I could feel the change in me immediately.

So again, for the next couple of weeks, be open. You don't even have to be alert, because you can't miss the Tower when it hits you. Just be open to major change.

And if the Tower happens to knock you on your ass, really try to remember that it's for the best. It really is. Good things will come of it, even if you can't yet see how. (But usually it's pretty obvious, real quick.) Life is just clearing the way for your good.

New Moon Oracle - October 2015 Waxing Moon

Tonight is the new moon. I pulled a tarot card to cover the next two weeks of the waxing moon.

What is new, what is coming?
What is growing, manifesting, becoming?

I drew a card from the Major Arcana of my Silver Era Tarot deck.

The Tower.

Ooooh...

The Tower is a very dramatic card. It's mostly seen in a negative light, but there is always a flip side to any coin.

The Tower shows a woman falling from a high tower, and that's gotta hurt. The Tower is being destroyed by lightning. Since 9/11, the Tower has often reminded me of the fall of the Twin Towers. The pain, destruction and devastation.

This card is about the destruction of a foundation you have long relied on. Thing is, oftentimes our foundations are built on shit and not worthy of our blind loyalty. The very thing we lean on can be our prison.

While The Tower can indicate something devastating like an accident, break-up or house fire, it can also be about enlightenment, freedom and escape.

It can mean breaking free from limiting beliefs, leaving a destructive relationship or even having a brilliant epiphany, creative breakthrough, or A-ha! moment.

Over the next two weeks, walls might come crumbling down. But they are meant to fall. Instead of despairing, welcome it. You need to find what's under the rubble. Find the diamond in the dark cave.

Something major is coming. Something you depended on will fall away, revealing something better for you in its wake.

Be ready. Be open. Be willing to change your perspective, big time. Be receptive to change. Be willing to be wrong about something you thought you knew for sure. Allow Life to show you something new, something better. Make room in your life, in your mind, in your heart for such an awakening.
